rent or loan or even borrow a villa in the Algarve. Some build one, but often
get one earlier to rent to oversee it. The Villas overlook su nny seas, and in
cases overlook a sea with just Africa and Morocco over there. Some neighbour Spain.
The Phoenicians, Cathanagians, and Romans all set up places here, where some would
live in luxery. Why not live in a way not that dissimilar from a Roman merchant
of thenm. Villas in the Algarve can be new, or very old, some built from Medieval
foundations, and some from possibly ideas of building good homes here, from many
centuries before then. Algarve is a place which also had Moors and Spanish occupation.
Till 1808 Algarve was virtually autonomus, and was in some ways seperate but part
of Portugal. for tax reasons. Ships stopping here on ways around Europe. The Algarve
doubles in population to a million in the tourist summer. The Algarve is a popular
destination for tourism, primarily because of its beaches, Mediterranean climate,
safety and relatively low costs. The length of the south-facing coastline is approximately
155 kilometres. Beyond the westernmost point of Cape St. Vincent it stretches
a further 50 kilometres to the north. The coastline is notable for picturesque
limestone caves and grottoes, particularly around Lagos, which are accessible
by powerboat. Praia da Marinha, Lagoa was classified as one of the 100 most beautiful
and well preserved beaches of the world. There are many other beautiful and famous
summer places such as Albufeira, Vilamoura, Portimão, Lagos, Armação
de Pêra, Quarteira, Monte Gordo and Tavira. It is also host to the annual
Algarve Cup invitational tournament for national teams in women's football. Agricultural
products of the region include fig, almond, orange (laranja do Algarve), carob
bean, strawberry tree and cork oak. In the 1960s the Algarve became a very popular
destination for tourists, mainly from Britain. It has since become a common destination
for Germans, Dutch and Irish people. Many of these tourists own their own property
in the region. There are Algarve-based English-written publications and newspapers
specifically addressed to this community. In addition to the natural beauties
and plenty of beaches, the Algarve has invested in the creation of a network of
golf courses. Well-known beaches in the Algarve range from Praia da Luz to Armação
de Pêra. A well known spa town is Caldas de Monchique. Algarve villas with
pools are also an option.
